Recognition Ceremony for Bill Hogharth, Director of Education YRDSB (Dec 02, 09)

We are pleased to announce that Toronto Iranians Community Group, along with 9 other Iranian organizations sponsored an event to recognize Bill Hogharth and presented him with a beautiful small Persian Rug .

The number of Iranians who choose to reside in York Region is on the rise. Recent data from the Reception Centre, where new students are received, shows that Farsi is one of the top five
languages spoken at the schools in this area. Every day, hundreds of our children and youth walk into schools in this region. Supporting children and showcasing their cultural background are crucial to their success.

One of the most supportive figures in this regard has been Bill Hogharth, the director of the YRDSB. He has always been very understanding and instrumental in addressing the needs of our
community. He has gone beyond his duty to support students of Persian descent. He has also been very encouraging in building relationship with our community and attending different community gatherings and fund-raising events.


In the ceremony, community expressed its appreciation and recognized Bill Hogharth for his directorship, generosity and openness
